The subject of this call for tenders is ‘Operation of the Secretariat of the EU initiative for coal, peat and oil shale regions in transition‘.

The overarching goal of the activity is to help EU coal, peat and oil shale regions to prepare, plan and implement a swift and timely transition away from coal, peat and oil shale, decarbonising their energy supply, diversifying their local economies, and leaving no one behind. Coal, peat and oil shale communities across the EU, that have relied on solid fossil fuels for decades, must be supported and accompanied. This will ensure that they are effectively involved in the transition and can meaningfully contribute to the direction the transition will take in their respective regions. For the purpose of this contract, activities will cover all EU regions with ongoing activities in the extraction and energy use of solid fossil fuels, including coal, peat and oil shale.
