The transport sector in Botswana has impressively grown over the decades and delivered tremendous dividends to the population by opening rural communities to social economic and jobs opportunities and providing a catalyst for mobility of the country’s trade commodities. The sector however needs to remain resilient into the future and adequately strengthened to address challenges and enable it effectively support growth of the economy. The Diagnostic study will focus on the soft aspects of transport, such as policies and strategies, institutions, regulations, financing aiming at increasing efficiency and performance of infrastructure and services. The following are the specific objectives of the services included under this assignment: (i) to identify comprehensive prioritized recommendations (actions) and necessary strategies in the transport sector; (ii) identify priority areas of support based on the priorities expressed by the Government and other key stakeholders. The Bank hereby invites Consulting Firms to indicate their interest in providing the above-described services. Interested eligible Consulting Firms or associations of Consulting Firms shall provide information on their qualifications and experience demonstrating their ability to provide the services (documentation, references for similar services, experience in comparable Assignments, availability of qualified staff, etc.). The eligibility criteria, the establishment of a short list and the selection procedure shall be in conformity with the Bank’s Procurement Policy and Procedure for Corporate Consultants Recruitment. Please, note that interest expressed by a Consulting Firm does not imply any obligation on the part of the Bank to include it in the shortlist. The estimated duration of services is 90 working days spread over 5-6 months including review and approval of reports by the Bank and consultations with stakeholders in country. The estimated starting date is mid-January 2022.
