81282265-Support to the implementation of EAC policies for strengthening trade in goods

The project aims to improve the institutional and regulatory framework conditions for regional and continental trade in the EAC. It focuses on supporting the implementation of processes in selected economic sectors including pharmaceutical, fruits and vegetable and leather and leather products. Moreover, it strives to strengthen the negotiation and implementation of the AfCFTA in order to use resulting dynamics for the benefit of the EAC integration processes. The target groups are owners and employees of trade-oriented enterprises, both in the selected sectors. The project design incorporates both aspects related to intra-regional and those related to intra-African trade. In some cases, however, measures that have an impact on the promotion of international trade (e.g. with the EU) are supported. It is assumed that non-tariff barriers are important bottlenecks for the export and import of goods and services and that their elimination can make an important contribution to regional integration. All activities will be implemented in close cooperation with the EAC Secretariat. At the level of EAC Partner States, cooperation covers public and private national structures relevant to the selected sectors and topics.
