https://devbusiness.un.org/content/hiring-service-providing-company-during-training-program-ipm-alfalfa REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST Azerbaijan Republic Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project Loan No.8286-AZ Assignment Title: Provision of non-consulting services to support training program on IPM Selection of service providing company on application of Integrated Pest Management practices on alfalfa cultivation Reference No. AZ-AACD-218613-NC-RFQ-A2/SC The Government of Azerbaijan has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project, and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services. The project consists of four components: Component A- Support for sanitary and phytosanitary services Component B- Agri-food value chain development Component C- Financial services to agribusiness Component D-Project Management. Sub-component A2: Upgrading Plant Health and Phytosanitary System. This sub-component would support upgrading the State Phytosanitary Control Services (SPCS). Project interventions will be focused on: (i) strengthening pest diagnostic capacity through provision of equipment for SPCS laboratories and training in pest diagnostics; (ii) enhancing pest control and pest risk analysis capacity through provision of equipment and targeted technical assistance and training and (iii) implementation of the pest management plan. The general objective The overall objective of the assignment is fostering Integrated Pest Management practice among relevant institutions and farmers’ communities in order to minimize dependence on chemical pesticides and produce environmentally friendly crops. The specific objective of the assignment is demonstration of Integrated pest management in alfalfa in demonstration fields, provision of support on training services for IPM in alfalfa and catering services for trainees, as well as preparation of promotional and campaign materials. As a result of the assignment awareness of farmers on highly effective, modern and environmentally friendly pesticides, as well as on pest control methods by application of modern techniques will be increased. For this purposes the Individual Consultant was selected to deliver trainings and supervise the field demonstrations. Along with that the Project intends to hire the service providing company to support the field activities. Scope of works: The Service providing company will be responsible for the following: Agricultural services in the field Supervision of plant growing process step by step from site preparation to harvesting stage 2.Training support services Provision of trainings with facilities, consumables, water and etc. Provision of transportation services for participants 3.Catering services coffee breaks and a lunch break 4. Promotional and campaign materials Preparation of booklets, posters and roll up Service will be delivered in regions (most probably Ganja/Samukh/Goranboy as a main station for alfalfa) where alfalfa cultivation is considered as a one of the leading sectors of crop husbandry. Reporting and expected outputs: The Service Provider should provide implementation plan, interim implementation and final report, as well as perform all the indicated tasks in timely manner. Duration of the assignment: Above indicated services will be provided by Service Provider during the period May – November 2021. The shortlisting criteria are: Service provider should have intensive experience and similar contracts in: Agricultural or related field works (works related to Integrated Pest Management would be an asset). Conducting training support activities, provision of transportation and catering services. Developing printing materials (posters, booklets, etc.) Information on availability of relevant vehicles, including their technical specifications; Assorted menu sheets The assignment involves of wide number of people. Safety aspects should be considered properly. The Agricultural Competitiveness Improvement Project now invites eligible Service providing Companies to indicate their interest in providing the services. Interested Companies should provide information demonstrating that they have the required qualifications and relevant experience to perform the Services.
