Description
Background
The World Food Programme WFP is the world's largest humanitarian agency fighting hunger worldwide, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience. Each year, WFP assists some 80 million people in around 80 countries.
Land transport is a key component of WFP’s logistical line, oftentimes completing the last leg of WFP’s supply chain. However, the complex conditions in which WPF's truck fleet operates, given by poor infrastructure, tough terrain and flooded roads, compromises humanitarian assistance by land, thus countries often rely on expensive airdrops and airlifts during rainy season. That is why Global Fleet needs a reliable all-terrain vehicle with amphibious characteristics, which is able to cross water areas and climb obstacles on roads, be easy in maintenance, have a low fuel consumption (diesel) and have load capacity of 1000Kg.
Goods required
WFP would like to short-list companies for a formal tender process for the purchase of amphibious vehicle with the ability to go in and out of water onto the ice, float and cross rivers, drive through swamps, sandy terrain and snow and to be able to overcome high obstacles (fallen trees, rubbles, etc). For further information see the attached document.
