As part of the Copernicus Space Component (CSC) Programme, ESA has implemented the Copernicus Precise Orbit Determination (POD) Service as an across-mission procurement to the respective Sentinels Payload Data Ground Segments (PDGSs). The Copernicus POD (CPOD) Service is the element of the Core Sentinels PDGS responsible for the generation, provision, operational quality control and validation of the Sentinel-1, -2, -3 and -6 POD products.
The CPOD Service is a distributed facility, composed of experts, providing a service and expertise for the CPOD nominal operations and improvement of the Copernicus Sentinel POD products.
The main objective of the ITT is to continue the operations of the Copernicus POD Service beyond 2022, through the operational production of the Sentinel orbital information, the Commissioning Phase support to the new Sentinel units as well as the management of the Copernicus POD Quality Working Group, in line with the operational and data requirements of the respective Sentinel missions.
The CPOD Service III generation will be funded by the EU Copernicus Programme (MFF 2021-2027) and will therefore be open exclusively to economic operators that have their registered office in an EU Member State or a State participating in the EU Copernicus Programme.
The Invitation to Tender (ITT) will be published on esa-star Publication. In order to access the ITT Package from esa-star Publication, Tenderers must be registered in esa-star as potential ESA suppliers. Any Tenderer which is not yet registered with ESA as a potential supplier must complete the online questionnaire in esa-star Registration, https://esastar-emr.sso.esa.int/ .
Further information on the registration process can be found in ESA’s INDUSTRY PORTAL available at:
- http://www.esa.int/About_Us/Business_with_ESA/How_to_do/esa-star_Registration_Process
Please note that esa-star allows two levels of entity registration: “Light” and “Full”. This allows new users wishing to do business with ESA to carry out their registration in two steps. While “Light” registration will grant access to all esa-star services up to and including proposal submission, the award of ESA contracts requires “Full” registration.
