MAPPAE, promoted by the association Le Terre dei Savoia, diversifies and increase the visibility of Europe’s transnational tourism offer by creating a thematic multisensory tourist and cultural Route that connects destinations related to medicinal and aromatic plants and perfumes (MAPs) across six European countries: Croatia, Bosnia, Cyprus, Italy, France and Malta exploiting the potential of MAPs as a tourist attraction, as well as the engagement of senses.
MAPPAE - inspired by the principles of European Cultural Routes and those of ‘slow tourism’ and ‘experiential tourism’ conceived as a multisensory experience - develops the unexploited tourist potential of MAPs at a transnational level in order to:
- stimulate European visitors to visit MAPs related locations
- target intercontinental markets, particularly China and Russia To achieve these goals MAPPAE is meant to:
- create transnational tourist packages and itineraries across Europe revolving around sensory experiences (12 pathways are foreseen, for
instance: Lavender Pathways across France, Italy and Croatia; Helichrysum Pathways across Bosnia, Croatia, Cyprus and Malta)
- make this new transnational tourist offer accessible through the creation of a trilogy of digital and media tools, namely a Web Portal centred on the multisensory transnational European route, videos and media contents and a specific App exploiting innovative technology, such as iBeacons.
