In accordance with the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Acquisition Management System (AMS) T3.2.2.4, the purpose of this announcement is to inform industry of the basis for FAA’s decision to extend the current Contract Weather Observation (CWO) contracts. This is in the FAA’s best interest to use a single source to continue providing CWO services in support of the CWO program because a source selection evaluation of the competitive acquisition for the long-term-satisfaction of these services is underway and the short term nature of the extension. Moreover, the cost of conducting a sufficient competition for the 10-month base period with two one-month option periods is not reasonable given the short period of the extensions and the need to execute long-term contracts. The existing Contractors of the seventeen CWO contracts are the proposed single source for the extended period.



The following Contract Weather Observation contracts are being extended for a period of ten months with two one-month options: DTFAWA-13-C-00055, Vero Technical Support; DTFAWA-13-C-00058, Vero Technical Support; DTFAWA-13-C-00059, Condor Reliability Services; DTFAWA-13-C-00061, Pacific Weather, Inc.; DTFAWA-13-C-00063, Pacific Weather, Inc.; DTFAWA-13-C-00064, Midwest Weather, Inc.; DTFAWA-13-C-00065, Alaska Weather Operations Services; DTFAWA-14-C-00004, The Rockhill Group; DTFAWA-14-C-00005, Midwest Weather Inc.; DTFAWA-14-C-00006, Diversified Management Solutions; DTFAWA-14-C-00007, IBEX Weather; DTFAWA-14-C-00008, The Rockhill Group; DTFAWA-14-C-00009, RNR Technologies, Inc.; DTFAWA-14-C-00010, RNR Technologies Inc.; DTFAWA-14-C-00011, IBEX Weather; DTFAWA-14-C-00012, Diversified Management Solutions; DTFAWA-14-C-00013, Alaska Weather Operations Services.
