The Home Office is sharing details of the upcoming launch of a consolidated Preventing Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) and Supporting Children Fund. We expect this will deliver over £18 million in funding as part of the Government's commitment to prevention and victim support across VAWG and Domestic Abuse (DA) over the next three years (2022/23 - 2024/25.) Tackling VAWG is a top Government priority. In 2021, the Domestic Abuse Act received royal assent and introduced a new statutory definition of domestic abuse, recognising children as victims of domestic abuse in their own right. The Act will increase protections for victims and strengthen measures to pursue perpetrators. Alongside implementation of the Domestic Abuse Act, the government published the Tackling Violence Against Women and Girls Strategy in July 2021, which committed to investing in a "What Works" Fund for tackling VAWG. This fund will enable us to identify the highest quality, evidence-informed prevention projects for investment. Furthermore, the Tackling Domestic Abuse Plan, published in March 2022, recognises the importance of prevention and early intervention and commits to increasing our investment in the Children Affected by Domestic Abuse (CADA) Fund. The CADA Fund originally launched in 2018 and since its inception has supported thousands of children and families affected by domestic abuse across England and Wales. The new iteration of the fund will build on this success and will be enhanced by an independent evaluation mechanism, to be appointed as part of the What Works Funding. We are inviting organisations with an interest in bidding, to offer their views to help shape how we compete this funding. A market engagement event will take place on 18th May at 15:30 - 17:00 where we will share our thinking and invite feedback and questions on the fund. Organisations wishing to attend must confirm via email with the name of the attendee(s) - only specified individuals will be able to attend this event. If you wish to attend the event, please email PVSC_VAWG@homeoffice.gov.uk and we will provide a prospectus. Please also use this email address for any questions relating to the event.
