The Department of Health (Department) is seeking the services of a suitable organisation to administer the operational activities of the NEBDS for a period of three (3) years.
The NEBDS aims to support better health outcomes for people with Epidermolysis Bullosa (EB) by improving access to subsidised dressings, bandages and ancillary products used in the management of their chronic conditions.
EB is a rare genetic condition that is characterised by extremely fragile and blister prone skin. Management of this condition requires frequent application of specialised dressings and bandages to reduce skin damage and the risk of infection. The cost of dressings can be high, particularly for those with more severe forms of EB.
The Scheme was established in 2010 and is funded by the Australian Government. The Scheme is administered by a Scheme Administrator engaged by the Department.
The activities that are to be delivered as part of the Services include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Scheme transition and readiness;
- Scheme promotion and stakeholder relationships;
- Applications and applications processing;
- Maintain applicants/participants registry and process orders;
- Maintain the Schedule of products, source and stock products;
- Information, education and support;
- Secretariat services to the Clinical Advisory Committee;
- Compliance with relevant regulations; and
- Reporting and reimbursement.
The detailed Statement of Requirement is listed under Schedule 1 of the RFT document.
