Description
This RFEI represents an unprecedented business opportunity in the park to provide a diverse range of lodging, food and beverage, transportation, campground management, and related visitor services at the historic ranch at Bechers Bay on Santa Rosa Island within Channel Islands National Park. The lease term may be up to 60 years on favorable terms, and multiple lessees may be accepted if found to be necessary for the success of the new visitor services. The lease will require the lessee(s) rehabilitate and/or preserve the structures and land described in the RFEI document.
The RFEI Area is the historic Santa Rosa Island Ranch, which sits on over 32 acres of corrals, pastures, historic and non-historic structures and coastal bluffs. The National Park Service (NPS) intends to include up to ten buildings and associated land in the lease following the RFP and competitive bidding process. "Day One" of these new visitor services is estimated for spring of 2024, and the facilities necessary for lodging, food and beverage, campground management, and island transportation are currently, or will be, ready for commercial operation by spring of 2024. Other structure availabilty will be phased-in over an additional one or two years.
ALL INTERESTED PARTIES should email John Hansen, Concessions Specialist, at john_hansen@nps.gov with any questions or to schedule a site visit. The deadline for RFEI responses is Wednesday, February 24, 2021 by 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). The park may choose to extend its submission window by 30-day increments depending on the quality or quantity of responses. Further submission instructions are located within the RFEI document.
