NOI to award noncompetitive procurement for (3) three replacement sand filters for the seawater treatment system at the USGS Marrowstone Marine Field Station.

The Department of the Interior, U.S. Geological Survey (USGS), Marrowstone Marine Field Station, has a requirement for (3) three replacement sand filters for the seawater treatment system at the USGS Marrowstone Marine Field Station in Nordland, WA. The following technical specifications are required:

Tank diameter: 47"
Port size: 4.0"
Filter area: 12.16 sq ft
Filter BW 15 GPM: 182.4
Filter rate 20 GPM: 243.2
Gals. per 60 min: 10,944
Gals. per 120 min: 21,888
Gals. per 240 min: 43,776
Cu. Ft. gravel (1/4"): 6.2
#sand (cu ft): 30.5
Total Media (cu. ft): 36.7

The Astral Model #06683 is the only filter that will reasonably accommodate the needs of the facility. This is the original make and model filter that the seawater system was designed to accommodate, as the building and plumbing were designed around the unique specifications (e.g. inflow / outflow height, diameter, and position) on this filter model. Any minute changes to filter configuration via a different make or model would require a complete plumbing redesign of the seawater supply and delivery system at an additional cost to the the facility.
Other interested concerns having the ability to furnish these services may submit a capabilities statement to the Contracting Officer via email at [email protected] no later than the closing date of this announcement on Monday, November 15, 2021 at 5:00pm PDT.
