II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

The subject of this call for tender is the continuation and improvement/expansion of the Smart Cities Marketplace, its secretariat as well as its portfolio of tasks and services. The next evolution of the Smart Cities Marketplace subject to this tender shall address the rationale and challenges with two overarching objectives:

1. support the practical implementation of core EU strategies like the EU Green Deal accelerating the clean energy transition in the urban context by connecting to and supplementing flagship initiatives of the European Commission such as the Renovation Wave, integrating activities with relevant EU level initiatives such as notably the Covenant of Mayors, cross-cutting campaigns like the mission on climate-neutral and smart cities and a number of other relevant initiatives and groups;

2. provide vital and practical knowledge to cities, towns, communities and their consortia for developing, shaping, implementing, replicating and upscaling solutions as well as the access to finance to help them becoming climate-neutral, and this way help to achieve the targets of the European Green Deal on local level.
