  Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Program (DRSLP II) Somalia Project   REQUEST FOR EXPRESSION OF INTEREST FOR CONSULTANCY SERVICES TO CARRY OUT GEOTECHNICAL AND GEOPHYSICAL SURVEY OF SAND AND SUBSURFACE DAMS IN SOMALILAND AND PUNTLAND  Country: Somalia Sector:  Agriculture and Water Resources Grant No.: ADF 2100155028971 & TSF  5900155007902 Project ID: P- Z1-AAZ-36  Package Number: C/SC/02/20 1.   The Federal Government of Somalia has received a grant from the African Development Bank Group towards funding the Drought Resilience and Sustainable Livelihoods Program (DRSLP II) for Somalia. The program is executed by the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) and is implemented by Save the Children International (SCI). The program seeks to recruit the services of a consulting firm to carry out geotechnical and geophysical survey for Sand and Subsurface dams in Somaliland and Puntland.   2.   Summary of the services expected from the consultancy firm under this contract include, but not limited to, the following: ●     To review and evaluate preliminary studies on sand, weir and sub-surface dams locations under the project (both rehabilitation and new), taking into account the lessons described in the Micro study; ●     To carry out field investigations and a topographic survey for all proposed sites in order to acquire geometric, geological and hydrological information necessary for the dam design. The field investigations should include general surveys (geo-morphological and hydrogeological) extended in a radius of 300-500m from the center of the dam and site studies localized in the stream and nearby zones (mostly the river banks), the latter is subject to a high variability due to a wide range of situations and dam solutions (sand or subsurface); ●     To carry out soil investigation; Develop profile drawings (longitudinal and cross-sectional) of the riverbed; Measuring the storage capacity of the sand reservoir; Measuring the volume of extractable water from the sand reservoir; carry out detailed geotechnical and geophysical investigations; ●     The Production of geotechnical and geophysical investigation findings: designs, Bill of Quantities, technical specifications, data sets etc.  3.   The duration to carry out the geohydrological and geophysical survey is two months and the services of supervision will be provided intermittently in the course of the work process.  4.   Save The Children International, as Implementing Agency, now invites all eligible consultancy firms to indicate and submit their expression of interest in providing these services. Interested consultants must provide information indicating that they are qualified to perform the services (profiles, proof of similar assignments undertaken, experience in similar conditions, availability of appropriate skills among staff, etc.).
