REQUEST FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST INDIVIDUAL CONSULTING SERVICES: ENVIRONMENTAL SPECIALIST      Country: Suriname Project name: Suriname Competitiveness and Sector Diversification (SCSD) Loan No.: IBRD-89850 Assignment Title: Environmental Specialist   Reference No. SR-MEA-212503-CS-INDV (as per Procurement Plan)    The Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation has received financing from the World Bank toward the cost of the SCSD Project and intends to apply part of the proceeds for consulting services.  The consulting services (“the Services”) include Environmental services with respect to ensuring that all project activities are implemented in accordance with the Projects Environmental and Social Management Framework (ESMF), including applicable national laws, regulations, and rules; international standards such as World Bank safeguard policies, and applicable best industry practices. The assignment will involve periodic field-based supervision and monitoring at project sites. The specialist will coordinate with The National Institute for Environment and Development in Suriname (NIMOS), the project Social Specialist, and other relevant Government of Suriname ministries and agencies in this work. The specialist will oversee the work of and provide training to contractors hired under the project from an environmental compliance perspective. The specialist will also contribute to broader project efforts to improve environmental oversight in Suriname. The assignment duration is 1 year with a possible extension of 3 years based on performance. The implementing agency of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, Entrepreneurship and Technological Innovation now invites eligible consulting firms (“Consultants”) to indicate their interest in providing the Services.
