Tender Details
In July 2020, Greater Sydney Parklands (GSP) was created to bring together and oversee some of Sydney’s most iconic places: Centennial Parklands (including Moore Park and Queens Park), Western Sydney Parklands, Parramatta Park, Callan Park and Fernhill Estate. These green spaces comprise more than 6,000 hectares of parklands across Sydney and host over 40 million visits each year.
From 1st April 2022, GSP transitioned to the new Cities and Active Transport branch of the Transport for NSW cluster.
The priority for GSP is to develop new ways to involve Sydneysiders in meeting local community needs, and to expand and improve public green space and parklands, to reinforce Sydney's global reputation as a “City in a Park”.
Centennial Parklands is a unique place of exceptional National, State and Local heritage significance. It has national significance as the place of the inauguration of the nation and is a grand, linked open space intended for social and physical activity and affectionately named as the ‘people’s park’
GSP plans for the further activation of Centennial Parklands, including inviting Proposals for the lease and licence of buildings and facilities as they become available.
Fairland Pavilion at McKay Playing Fields was built in 1933 and has been a very important and well used sporting facility and amenities for many years by secondary and tertiary institutions and many community sports clubs / codes or associations.
GSP for and on behalf of CPMPT is now in a position to invite Proposals for the redevelopment, management and operation of Fairland Pavilion at McKay Playing Fields from suitably qualified, skilled and experienced secondary and tertiary institutions and including community sports clubs / codes or associations, interested in licencing the building and adjacent external area.
CPMPT wishes to secure a tenant to occupy and manage access and use of Fairland Pavilion at McKay Playing Fields in ways that complement the existing uses on site (including uses on McKay Sporting Fields managed by the Greater Sydney Parklands) and ensures that the asset is activated, used for beneficial community purposes, and the building is secured and maintained throughout the licence term.
The proposed licence of Fairland Pavilion at McKay Playing Fields does not include the licence of any of the adjoining sporting fields but will include non-exclusive access to the change room facilities for all hirers of McKay Oval through a booking management process coordinated with the CPMPT.
Fairland Pavilion at McKay Playing Fields is situated in the Sports Hub precinct, located in the south-western part of Centennial Parklands, off Grand Drive.
A licence term of up to 20 years is being offered.
