Overview : Objective The objective of this procurement is to engage an IT-based company to develop a digital Platform to enhance technical capacity and provide Pre-farm, On-farm and Post-harvest support services for Macadamia and Cashew Nuts Value Chain Actors. UNDP will work with Farm Forestry Smallholder Producers Association of Kenya (FF-SPAK). FF-SPAK, is an umbrella producer’s organization based in Nairobi and working with farmer groups in Kenya to promote and champion the interests of farm forestry smallholders. It was registered in 2013 with the head office in Nairobi and 16 offices across the country at affiliate members’ level. FF-SPAK main mission to build the capacity of smallholder producers to organize into formidable producer organizations, that can facilitate business integration, collective marketing and give producers a strong voice to push for a favorable business environment. Further FF-SPAK works with partners to address members challenges including: unsustainable supply of quality germplasm, Conflicting/unsupportive policies and laws as regards to tree farming and exploitation of forest resources; Low allocation of resources towards promotion of tree farming; Lack of organized market for tree and tree products; Inadequate capacity of tree nursery operators to develop management plans both financial, technical and operation plans to guide their business enterprises; lack of awareness of the economic importance of trees and opportunities available along the tree value chain; Limited diversification of tree species and tree by- products; Insufficient knowledge and appropriate technology on farm forestry; Inadequate knowledge in mobilizing financial resources; Insufficient farm forest extension services and Lack of enforcement of farm forestry rules. It is these challenges and opportunities that this RFP seeks to address. Proposals should be submitted to [email protected] on or before 10.00 A.M (Kenyan Time EAT+3.00) on Tuesday, 14th September 2021. Proposal must be expressed in the English, and valid for a minimum period of 90 days.
