Overview :

The Government of Malawi (GoM) in January 2021 launched the long-term development framework of the country, Malawi 2063 (MW2063), which provides for an inclusive development path to be achieved through strategic and transformative initiatives that will change Malawi into an inclusively wealthy and self-reliant industrialized country by 2063. The Malawi 2063 is anchored on three pillars; namely, 1) Agricultural productivity and commercialization; 2) Industrialization; and 3) Urbanization, all of which are planned to be achieved through seven enablers.  The MW2063 is expected to be implemented through successive 10-Year Implementation Plans, with the first expected to be launched on November 8, 2021 during the National Development Conference (NDC). The Malawi 2063 first 10-Year Implementation Plan  puts forward interventions and strategies to achieve two key development objectives; namely, 1) To graduate the country into middle-income economy by 2030, 2) To accelerate the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by 2030.
