Description
Background : The United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) is committed to providing support to its Member States in advancing climate action to address these challenges. ESCWA, through its emission reduction strategy, is also committed to leading by example. It has achieved carbon neutrality in 2017, four years before the 2020 target for United Nations entities. To limit its environmental and emissions footprint, ESCWA has also implemented energy efficiency measures. ESCWA continues to fully support the “Greening the Blue” initiative and other global efforts to address the impact of climate change. 2. Purpose of this Request This RFI aims to gather information about capabilities and costing of the latest available solar photovoltaic (PV) technologies and solutions in the marketplace to decrease electricity and diesel consumption at UNESCWA and as a result, greenhouse gas emissions. UNESCWA is inviting interested Contractors to attend a site visit to ESCWA premises ,on Friday 2 July 2021 at 10:00 a.m, and as a result provide details of their available options. Upon request, further information regarding this RFI could be provided to vendors. This RFI is issued solely for information and planning purposes. It does not constitute a solicitation (Request for Proposal or Request for Quotations) from the United Nations or a promise to issue a solicitation in the future. This RFI does not commit the United Nations to pay any cost incurred in the preparation or submission of any response to the RFI.   The scope of this Request for Information (RFI) consists of but not limited to the following: 1. Conduct a site visit to the UN House on Friday 2 July 2021 at 10 a.m to: a. inspect all available roof surfaces throughout the premises to take measurements and determine which ones are structurally and feasibly suitable to install solar photovoltaic (PV) panels on (contractors are advised to bring their own measurement devices). b. inspect all the building’s facades to explore the optional and feasible installation of solar PV technologies. c. inspect the premises to explore the optional and feasible installation of solar PV streetlights. d. inspect the electrical rooms, the electrical connections and conduits throughout the premises, and the diesel generators. e. collect electricity and diesel consumption data to be provided by ESCWA on site. f. explore the deployment of energy storage systems for critical loads and/or emergency situations. 2. Based on the site visit and the data collected, submit potential solutions and estimated prices, grouped into multiple options such as 1) PV, 2) PV+Storage, 3) PV+Storage+Streelighting, 4) PV+Streetlighting, etc…., to be studied by ESCWA. The submitted solutions shall include the data sheets of the main components (panels, inverters, charge controllers, and/or batteries) showcasing their main features and capabilities.
