This Invitation for Prequalification follows the General Procurement Notice for this project which was published on the EBRD website, Project Procurement Notice (www.ebrd.com) on 7 January 2016 (ref. 8134-GPN-47495), and WAJ website at www.waj.gov.jo
The Government of Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan represented by the Ministry of Water and Irrigation / Water Authority of Jordan has received the loan from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (the Bank) towards the cost of the East Zarqa Wastewater Project and intends using part of the proceeds of this loan towards the cost of construction of the Force Main from East Zarqa Pumping Station to As-Samra Waste Water Treatment Plan. The implementation agency of the Project is the Water Authority of Jordan (Programme Management Unit).
The Client intends prequalifying firms and joint ventures to tender for the following contract, hereinafter referred to as “the Contract”, to be funded from part of the proceeds of the loan: construction of the Force Main from East Zarqa Pumping Station (EZPS) to As-Samra Waste Water Treatment Plan (As-Samra WWTP), including:
– connection of the new force main to EZPS outlet chamber,
– construction of (8,600) m length and (900) mm diameter ductile iron pipeline with its fittings and supports,
– construction of air valves and washout chambers, and
– connection of the new force main to the inlet chamber at the entrance of As-Samra WWTP.
It is expected that tendering for this contract will be carried out in III-IV quarters of 2016 and the works will start in 2017. Contract duration will be 12 month and defect liability period will be 24 months.
Prequalification and tendering for contracts to be financed with the proceeds of a loan from the Bank is open to firms and joint ventures of firms from any country.
Foreign contractors are encouraged to form joint ventures or consortia with local Jordanian contractors classified as Grade (1) in Water and Wastewater or invite them as subcontractors.

The prequalification documents must be duly completed and delivered to the address below, on or before 31 July 2016 14:00 hours and clearly marked “Application to Prequalify for Construction of the Force Main from East Zarqa Pumping Station to As-Samra Waste Water Treatment Plant”. Documents which are received late may be rejected and returned unopened.
