Description
A. The United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) requires the services of a qualified and experienced Contractor for provision of various Non-Hazardous Solid Waste Management Services at three (3) UNIFIL collection areas which includes UNIFIL HQ Naqoura (1 position), Sector East (23 positions) and Sector West (21 positions) as per agreed schedule and/or “as and when” required emergency on call services. The successful Contractor shall provide all supervisory personnel, management, manpower, equipment, tools, materials, and other resources to plan, prepare and execute the services that are required to all designated UNIFIL locations. The Waste Management Services shall include minimum the following: 1. Collection of non-hazardous solid waste (segregated and non-segregated) from three (3) UNIFIL Collection Areas namely Sector East, Sector West and UNIFIL HQ. 2. Transportation of segregated solid waste to designated facilities, and non-segregated solid waste to sorting facilities (or dumpsites with sorting facilities) as applicable, in a manner that does not harm the environment, in accordance with the standards and conditions set by and subject to approval of Lebanese Ministry of Environment (MoE) 3. Segregation of waste into recyclables and non- recyclables at designated sorting facilities or at the dumpsite level 4. Transport recovered recyclables to designated recycling facilities by the Government of Lebanon (Ministry of Environment, Municipalities, etc.) for further recycling. 5. Dispose-off non-recyclable rejected waste to landfills/ dumpsites in a manner that does not harm the environment, in accordance with the standards and conditions set by and subject to approval of MOE. 6. Cleaning/Scrubbing and disinfection of dumpsters/bins. UNIFIL intends to enter for a Contract for an initial two (2) yearS period with the option to extend for another three (3) years of one (1) year periods (1+1+1), at the discretion of UNIFIL, subject to the extension of UNIFIL’s mandate and satisfactory performance by the Contractor. B. For the purpose of establishing a contract, UNIFIL will undertake a competitive bidding exercise in the future and consider inviting those companies that have expressed their interest and provided initial relevant information as to their ability to fulfill UNIFIL’s requirement.
