Every year, since 1948, 10th of December has been commemorated as International Human Rights Day, in remembrance of the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR) by the United Nations General Assembly. This year, the Human Rights Commission is collaborating with the UNDP Country Office and the MOJ, including other Government Ministries, departments and civil society organizations to commemorate this important global event.

The commemoration of Human Rights Day presents an opportunity to celebrate human rights achievements, address challenges in achieving human rights for all, and encourage new constituencies and audiences to join the human rights movement. In Zambia, such a commemoration will create an opportunity for duty bearers and rights holders alike to reflect on how the UDHR has changed and advanced the human rights landscape in Zambia.

In this regard, a series of commemorative events which will be held prior to, and culminate into, the commemoration of the 2019 Human Rights Day on 10th December. Some of the activities which will be implemented prior to the commemoration include holding of public discussions on human rights, human rights clinics, SMS campaign, honouring of human rights defenders in Zambia and other media and visibility engagements.

During most of these activities, the HRC working with different stakeholders, would like to showcase the human rights promotional videos to portray human rights in the Zambian context as well as raise awareness on the project and its activities amongst potential donors and partners.

Duties and Responsibilities

The consultant who will be hired to produce the promotional video will report to HRC/UNDP. The duties and responsibilities of the consultant will focus on:

1. Developing a concept note of promotional videos about human rights in Zambia.
2. Consult with HRC and UNDP to come up with content for the video within a given timeframe.
3. Produce three (3), maximum two (2) minutes promotional videos on human rights in Zambia placing rights holders in the focus.
4. Provide subtitles for hearing impaired persons.
