United Nations Office at Nairobi (UNON ) on behalf of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) hereby invites qualified firms to submit their Expressions of Interest to participate in the upcoming competitive bidding exercise for the provision of an events management company that will creatively conceptualize, plan, organize, execute the Award Ceromony and Gala Dinner for the Champions of the Earth event, including venue and catering arrangements. Backrgound : The Champions of the Earth is the United Nation’s flagship global environment award which was established by the UN Environment Programme in 2004. Envisioned to become the ‘Nobel Prize’ for the environment, the award recognizes and distinguishes environment heroes in the fields of Policy Leadership, Science and Innovation, Entrepreneurial Vision, and Inspiration and Action. Our laureates include those whose track records of contribution to environment work have resulted in significant, positive impact or influence on the sustainable management of resources and protection of the environment and serve as inspirations for transformative actions across the world. The 2018 Champions of the Earth laureates and Young Champions will be recognized at a high-profile award ceremony and gala dinner in New York in September on the sidelines of the UN General Asssembly. The event will feature Goodwill Ambassadors, celebrity presenters, and high-level guests from governments, private sector, civil society and media. The award night is designed to generate global publicity for the winners to encourage and inspire similar action globally. Scope of the Work: The Contractor will be expected to organize and make all necessary arrangements for all the components of the 2018 Champions of the Earth Award Ceremony, catering services for the reception and sit-down dinner for 500 guests and developing the creative concept and programme for the award ceremony with the objectives of differentiating the event from the past ones through creative ideas and artistic executions, building on the successes of the previous awards, and ensuring the award’s profile is effectively communicated. Objectives:  Strengthen the global profile of the Champions of the Earth awards through the organization of a high-level, prestigious and engaging event that will showcase the innovative and exemplary work of the laureates.  Create an event that will serve as a platform for leveraging the global profile, expertise and influence of the laureates in positioning the UN Environment brand.
