Description
The United Nations Support Office in Somalia (UNSOS) is seeking Expressions of Interest (EOI) from competent and qualified providers of funeral services. Services under the conract include but not limited to reception and collection of Human Remains (HR) from a hospital or airport, preparation and storage, autopsy, packaging, preparation of mandatory certifications and transportation to the country of origin of the deceased. Countries for repatriation of the HR include but not limited to Uganda, Burundi, Ethiopia, Djibouti, Nigeria, Sierra Leone and Ghana. The contractor is to receive the HR arriving at JKIA International airport from Somalia and South Africa, or, alternatively, at the hospitals contracted by UNSOS. Currently, these hospitals include (i) The Kenya Hospital Association (Nairobi Hospital), (ii) The Aga Khan University Hospital, (iii) Karen Hospital, (iv) Mater Hospital and (v) Defense Forces Memorial Hospital (DFMH). Vendors interested in fulfilling the requirement should confirm compliance with the appropriate ICAO/IATA and Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)/Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations. The resulting contract is planned to have an initial term of three years with the option to extend for two terms of one year each (3+1+1 years), starting on March 2022 The detailed scope of requirements will be provided within the UN's Request for Proposal (RFP), which is planned to be issued in October 2021.
