Description
PUMP SET, PART MAINLINE & INTAKE WORKS FOR THE DHANKUUKLEY IRRIGATION BLOCK (21/383-R) FAO Somalia intends to support the community in Iskushuban, Puntland, Somalia through development of an irrigation project. This will increase crop production, food security and incomes for the population in the area. The area developed will be 30 Ha for the first block. It is intended that the farmers will grow vegetable crops and fruits. PROJECT MAIN ITEMS The project will involve:  Supply and installation of two diesel engine driven pump sets  Construction of a water abstraction facility (suction sump and pipes support pillars) at intake.  Construction of a pump house and pump set supporting base.  Supply and installation of water pipes to take water to the project area.  Supply and installation of pipes and water distribution hydrants within the project area. PROJECT LOCATION AND SIZE The Project area is located 2.5 Km north of Iskushuban town in Iskushuban district. The project will develop an area of 30 Ha through pumping with water source being at Gargarida in the Kaldarey/ Ceelmadobe springs.
