Shipboard Surgical Trauma Training S2T2 is conducted during Basic Phase. It is a unit level training and provides necessary unit team trauma skills to prepare Fleet Surgical Teams FSTs for sea-based damage control resuscitation and surgery in support of Casualty Receiving and Treatment Ships CRTS mission aboard amphibious platforms LHAD, LPD. The S2T2 is a simulation-based trauma initiative that emphasizes team work to improve the delivery of trauma care to severely injured patients. The S2T2 Course is Navy process improvement initiative and combines classroom didactics with hands-on simulations. The training has proven to be an effective tool in improving team performance in trauma training and already has proven improved combat trauma care and patient outcomes afloat.
