1. The United Nations Peacekeeping Force in Cyprus (UNFICYP) intends to conduct a competitive solicitation exercise for the sale of scrap material and other waste from its designated disposal area in the UNPA, Nicosia, Cyprus for the purpose of smelting, safe recycling/ remanufacturing or disposal, on “as and when required” basis. The Contractor shall manage the collection, removal and disposal of the scrap material and other waste generated by UNFICYP.
2. The resulting contract shall be for an initial period of three (3) years with the UNFICYP’s sole option to extend the term of the contract for a maximum of two additional periods of up to one (1) year each (3+1+1 years).
3. The Contractor shall be licensed to collect, transport and dispose scrap material and other waste by the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Department and Environment, Republic of Cyprus under law 185(I) 2011.
4. At present, UNFICYP has approximately for immediate sale and collection the following items:
i. scrap metal – 9.80 Metric Ton (MT);
ii. gym equipment of different sizes – 1.00 MT;
iii. domestic kitchen equipment – 3.00 MT;
iv. containers (ablution, accommodation, office) – 7.50 MT;
v. sandwich panels – 0.50 MT;
vi. air-conditions – 1.00 MT;
vii. electronics waste – 1.00 MT;
viii. batteries (different types) – 0.40 MT;
ix. gas heaters mushrooms – 0.21 MT;
x. fire extinguishers – 0.60 MT;
xi. solar panels – 2.50 MT;
xii. used vegetable oil – 500.00 Liters;
xiii. mattresses – 0.50 MT;
xiv. scrap wood – 2.00 MT;
xv. tires of different sizes – 0.80 MT;
xvi. lamps (bulbs and tube fluorescent, etc.) – 0.05 MT;
xvii. plastic water tanks, jerry cans – 0.50 MT.
5. In this regard, UNFICYP would like to identify vendors that would be interested to participate in the competitive solicitation exercise. Qualified vendors are requested to express their interest by providing all relevant information using the attached Vendor Response Form, also available in our website www.unficyp.org. 6. The UNFICYP reserves the right in selecting the invitees for the competitive bidding and mere expressing an interest would not automatically warrant participation in the competitive bidding exercise. The UNFICYP reserves the right to change or cancel any of these requirements at any time during the EOI and/or the solicitation process.
