The JRC will undertake an experiment with farmers focusing on synergies or crowding-out effects across these two voluntary schemes included in the CAP post-2020 green architecture. The experiment will cover several Member States while ensuring some geographic balance. The geographical scope should preferably be extended to other Member States than those already studied (Spain, Germany and Poland); however, it might be interesting to keep one of them to allow comparison with prior results.

The design of the experimental context will incorporate findings on the environmental benefits of farming practices from the meta-analysis carried out by JRC and mobilise the expertise of the Research Network on Economic Experiments for CAP (REECAP) to enhance the soundness and robustness of the experiment while fostering partnerships and dissemination of best practices.
