Tender Details

The growth in patronage across Sydney Trains and NSW TrainLink services is projected to increase significantly over the next decade, creating increased demands on scheduled train services, and the overall utilisation of overhead wires (OHW) across the operating network, with over 1650Kms of single and double overhead contact wires.

To continue optimal network operations, Sydney Trains seeks to engage with a capable professional engineering services provider for overhead wire (OHW) inspection and measurement across its network.

The key service outcome from the engagement being the provision of comprehensive analysis on OHW profile, thickness and condition monitoring for both full and partial scans of the Sydney Train’s network, including the provision of the necessary tools to review the data collected and professional reports.

It is anticipated that the equipment used to carry out the service may comprise of both hardware and software components. Any hardware components needs to be capable of being mounted on a Sydney Train’s specified rolling stock asset, and the software component shall be able to translate the data collected in a format which is readily usable and compatible with Sydney Trains Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMS), and further presented in the form of an Exceedance Report. The primary benefit for Sydney Trains being the advancement of preventative maintenance capabilities, planning and forecasting.

Sydney Trains’ preferred model for procuring this integrated platform is through engagement of a head contractor for complete delivery and ongoing management of the desired solution. The proposed solution should be delivered entirely by the head contractor itself.
