The purpose of Procurement at Sydney Water is to get the goods, services and facilities it needs, when it needs them and for the right cost. Procurement is a key enabler and contributor to the success of our strategic objectives and fulfilling our vision to create a better life through world-class water services. As our customers reply on us for reliable, high quality services at affordable prices, we partner with an extensive range of suppliers to help us create thriving, liveable and sustainable cities. It’s crucial that we undertake procurement activities ethically and equitably to ensure that the best commercial outcomes are achieved in line with our organisational values and statutory obligations

Sydney Water is planning to upgrade its wastewater infrastructure in North Richmond and Richmond to meet the needs of Richmond’s growing population, meet current regulatory requirements and provide sufficient flexibility to meet more stringent regulatory requirements in the future.

The Richmond Water Recycling Plant (WRP) and the North Richmond Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) currently service two independent systems separated by the Hawkesbury River.

Both plants and their systems will have capacity limitations in the near future as the population growth in the Richmond and Upper Hawkesbury area is projected to increase by 70% over the next 30 years.

As part of this upgrade, we will

•augment Richmond WRP to receive all flows from the North Richmond Catchment and to meet future growth of the Richmond precinct

•build a new pumping station to transfer all flows from North Richmond WWTP to Richmond WRP

•build a new pressure main approximately 6.9 kilometres long to transfer flows from North Richmond WWTP to Richmond WRP

•upgrade 3 existing pumping stations in Richmond with 2 receiving increased storage capacity and 1 receiving a new diesel pump

•upgrade of specific sewers, manholes and emergency relief structures in the North Richmond Catchment

The upgrade will increase the combined plant capacity by 80% and at the same time will ensure Sydney Water meets its EPA license requirements.

Through this Expressions of Interest (EOI) process, Sydney Water invites Proponents (comprising one or more companies covering the required capabilities) to demonstrate that they have the right experience, capability, understanding and commitment to work with Sydney Water to deliver this project.
