Project AMBITUS aims States at boosting in the long term the operational activities of the law enforcement authorities in their combat against environmental crime while - completing the general framework currently established in order to create an effective and liable pan-European coalition - strengthening the stakeholders’ levels of expertise, technical capacities and financial resources - leading operational activities focusing on evidence gathering related to waste and wildlife trafficking and forest fires. AMBITUS intends to achieve the main following outcomes: - to deepen the analysis of the EnviCrime phenomenon, i.e. a more accurate knowledge of threats & trends, areas & flows, criminal networks & links - to develop further cooperation by gathering knowledge, standardizing and improving practices and procedures, more efficient networking mechanisms between MS - to implement or support operational actions based on intelligence-led investigations and tools while focusing on specific locations, clusters and organized criminal groups (OCGs) AMBITUS plans to produce detailed reports, summary records & decisions, dedicated tools & training programmes as well as tailored communication items. Main activities & beneficiaries AMBITUS is designed as a holistic & integrated project since it intends to: - encompass all the stakeholders (Member States, international organizations, Justice, public & private sector). - rationalise all the key activities (assessments, trainings, networking, operations, communication) By establishing solid foundations helping the EU to face environmental crime rising issues, AMBITUS will be sustainable and positive : - in the short term, on ISF Ambitus & EMPACT EnviCrime participant EU MEMBER STATES in general - in the middle term, on the Justice sector and agencies (Europol, Frontex, Eurojust, EFCA) - in the long term, on third countries, international organisations (Interpol, OECD) and citizens.
