II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

The London Borough of Tower Hamlets (referred to as ‘Tower Hamlets’ or the ‘Authority’) would like to invite organisations to submit applications through a dynamic purchasing system process to become accepted providers of the Tower Hamlets Tier 2 Weight Management Service.

Tier 2 weight management service is aimed at all Tower Hamlets residents who meet the eligibility criteria. The service will support them to achieve better health and well-being outcomes.

The service will link with Tier 1 universal services such as local gyms and Tier 3 weight management service where appropriate.

Contract start and expiry date: contract starts on 16.9.2019 until 15.9.2022, with a possible 2 years extension (15.9.2024).

Estimated contract value: 154 000 GBP per year; 462 000 GBP for 3 years; additional 308 000 GBP for the extension periods; total value: 770 000 GBP.

Overweight and obesity presents a major challenge to the current and future health of the local population. Higher Body Mass Index (BMI) is associated with an increased risk of morbidity and mortality from a range of conditions and contributes to increased health and social care costs. Due to these reasons, weight management is a local priority for both the council and its partners and the local people.

Successful providers will need to meet the required quality assurances as set out by Tower Hamlets through the submission of the responses to a set of technical and professional ability questions as well as agree a pre-set costing elements.

A supplier briefing will take place on Monday 15.7.2019 between 12:30 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.
