Chingola Water Treatment Plant, Chililabombwe Treatment Plant, Mufulira Water Treatment Plants and some selected Sewer Ponds.

II.2.4)Description of the procurement:

The Design and Build component will involve Works at seven out of MWSC’s eight water treatment plants (WTP) in the three towns namely: Chililabombwe, Chingola and Mufulira. Whereas seven water treatment plants have been prioritized for work, the Employer may require the contractor to undertake brief technical studies on the eighth water treatment plant and the sewerage treatment facilities at no extra cost to the Employer. The Design and Build component will also involve upgrading three bulk water mains in Chingola.

The scope of work will differ from site to site as set out further on in the Employer’s Requirements. Some treatment plants will require minor works such as replacement of electrical and mechanical equipment whereas others would require extensive rehabilitation/ refurbishment of electrical and mechanical and, in some cases, structural elements of the treatment plants. The Kafue WTP at Chingola, presently operating at 40MLD requires refurbishment works at the existing facilities as well as an additional 20MLD minimum extension works.
