II.2.4) Description of the procurement
The University of Strathclyde seek to secure a suitably qualified and experienced supplier to supply, delivery and commission a Dynamometer at the National Manufacturing Institute of Scotland (NMIS). The base plate dynanometer will be used to measure cutting forces on a component during machining.
It is envisioned that this technology will help to eliminate scrap and can improve cutting tool life. The understanding of cutting forces can help to optimise machining strategies and optimising cutting parameters by lowering cutting forces during machining.
The Specification for the requirement will include the non-exhaustive list:
- Please confirm your offered solution can provide Cutting force measurement in high performance machining applications. Must be able to cover -25 to 25 kN and -2500Nm to 2500Nm (M)
- The supplier's proposed solution and all connecting components must be suitable for use in a machining environment including but not limited to; corrosion-resistance, IP67 dust and liquid protection, and protection against penetration by cutting fluids, carbon fibre nanofibre cuttoffs and sharp-edged swarf by splashing water or cutting fluid
-The offered solution must not exceed footprint measurements of 260x200x60 mm (LxWxH)
- The offered solution will have a force measurement range between -30kN - 60kN
-Please confirm the Dynamometer can be used for the below noted types of machining:

· surface
· grinding
· drilling
