Description

United Nations Educational, Science and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) hereby invite qualified companies to electronic offers tenders as follows:

UNESCO Almaty Office is implementing a project in the framework of which the creation of an exhibition to celebrate the common heritage along the Silk Roads will be developed. The exhibition will focus on the artifacts of the national museums of Afghanistan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan.

The virtual exhibition is to be hosted on the Google Arts&Culture platform, comprising a combination of photography and interactive 3D models.

Objective: Selected vendor will develop a program to steer the documentation (photographing and scanning) of the selected artefacts locally in each of the seven countries and prepare the digital copies of the artefacts for inclusion in the virtual exhibition.

Outputs: Selected vendor shall contribute to the development of a virtual exhibition on the Common Heritage along the Silk Roads, in particular the development of a modular programme involving equipment and methodology customization, training and remote support, and data processing and publication to be implemented in the participating countries.

Timing: The total duration of the contract will be 6-9 months.

Activities include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following tasks:

  • Liaise with UNESCO Almaty office project team regularly to ensure effective and smooth implementation of the assignment.

  • Customize Methodology and Equipment Kit :

  1. Develop/provide technical requirements for the standardized capture kit to perform digital capture of the selected objects;
  2. Provide UNESCO Almaty with a list of recommended components for each of the kits;
  3. Standardize the methodologies for each of the types of capture.
  • Provide training and remote support:

  1. Develop and deliver a data capture training  and remote support programme for local individuals selected for the programme;
  2. The local trainees will be hired by UNESCO based on the profile developed by the supplier;
  • Offer data processing and coordination approach and implement that approach as agreed with UNESCO Almaty;

  • Assist in uploading the resulting models and images into platform/s for further annotations by UNESCO Almaty and/or national museums.
