Description

Description
  1. Background
  1. The United Nations World Food Programme hereinafter referred to as the “WFP”, with its Headquarters located in Via C.G. Viola, 68/70, 00148 Rome, Italy is the leading humanitarian organization saving lives and changing lives, delivering food assistance in emergencies and working with communities to improve nutrition and build resilience by assisting almost 100 million people in around 83 countries each year. About 17,000 people work for the organization, most of them in remote areas, directly serving the hungry poor.
  2. WFP’s Disability Inclusion Road Map (2020-2021) supports the implementation of the Secretary-General’s 2019 United Nations Disability Inclusion Strategy (UNDIS) and WFP’s obligations more broadly regarding disability inclusion. This Road Map complements WFP’s approach to addressing the rights of persons with disabilities in its programming, including the forthcoming Protection and Accountability Policy.
  3. In support of the disability inclusion frameworks, WFP will convert 13 English-language key documents, guidance and tools into easy read format, an adapted version that presents information in a way that is easy to read and understand. Making information clear and simple for all ensures information reaches a wider audience and supports broader participation in WFP programmes. For more information on easy read, please consult the Inter-Agency Standing Committee (IASC) easy read guidelines.
  4. WFP foresees that the Contractor convert information in each document into simple and accessible language, with supporting images, illustrations or pictograms, that meets or exceeds  the European Standards for making information easy to read and understand and the IASC Guidance on the Inclusion of Persons with Disability in Humanitarian Action. It is expected that the Contractor produces each document in an adapted and accessible format, presenting information in a way that is easy to read and understand. Text and images should be checked for equality and diversity, representing a cross-cultural society with particular regard to gender, culture, age, disability, and the environment (for e.g. no plastic straws or utensils).
  5. To achieve this objective, WFP requires additional expertise and support to convert, and verify the conversion with an expert test group and deliver 13 English-language documents into easy read format.
  6. WFP invites eligible suppliers to express their interest in providing the requested services.
