The National AIDS Commission has been serving the Belizean public with resource, research, and a coordinated approach to the HIV/AIDS situation in Belize since 2002. At the heart of this effort has been the resounding issue of the public identity or public image of the Commission. While the commission has its governing regulations and systems of structure to effectively do its work; the general public doesn’t truly know what the Commission is and what it does.

This “misunderstanding” by the general public was largely fueled by a lack innovative and correct information dissemination from the NAC and the fact that the target populations (youth, MSM, FWS, LGBT, etc.) view the Commission as being disconnected from those who need these resources.

The NAC Secretariat has recognized this as a gap and has given it high priority. It was determined that a Communication Strategy must be developed to fully address the NAC’s communication issues.

The Secretariat of the National AIDS Commission is seeking to engage a Consultant to:

• Update its current communication strategy and operational plan
• Draft a costed M&E plan for the Communications Strategy
