The University of Groningen (UoG) is intended to purchase a unique sample holder for in-situ experiments in an advanced scanning transmission electron microscope (S/TEM) (This microscope of Thermo Fisher Scientific with model name Themis Z comprises two aberration correctors and a monochromator and operates with accelerating voltages between 30 and 300 kV). The unique holder must have the following combined capabilities: (1) tilt specimen along two orthogonal axis (i.e. double tilt capability), (2) cool the specimen down to liquid-nitrogen temperature and from there in a controlled manner heat to and stabilize any temperature up to 1000 K, (3) at the same time subject the sample to an electrical bias (voltage) and (4) guarantee extreme low sample drift (<2 nm/min) and a very good spatial resolution (1.4Å) in S/TEM imaging.
