21/02903 Rented vessel Mareano 2022
This enquiry is for the hire of a research vessel with ROV for a MAREANO research cruise in 2022 in the Barents Sea to the north of Svalbard and in the Kvitøy area for 3 to 4 weeks in August-September. The cruise will start and end in Tromsø, Norway.
The research mission will last for 3-4 weeks.
This enquiry requires a ROV with an HD camera and a minimum depth of 1500 metres. The ROV will be operated by the tenderer and it must be available for operation 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
The research area is to the north of Svalbard (79-81 degrees north and 7-30 degrees east). Mob/demob of client personnel and equipment is in Tromsø city (69 degrees north, 19 degrees east).
The purpose of the MAREANO mission is to map the geological, biological and chemical environment of the seabed in order to generate knowledge to be used in national management plans for Norwegian sea areas in accordance with current identified mapping needs. Knowledge from the MAREANO project will be continually published, including on www.mareano.no
The mapping of geological, biological, and chemical seabed environments will be undertaken in areas where the MAREANO programme already has obtained a depth chart with high resolution from Norwegian Mapping Authority. Geological, biological, and chemical mapping will be undertaken with the help of several tools such as bottom grab, multi-core sample taker, a small beam trawl, epibenthic sledge, dragged HD video rig, or alternatively ROV, as well as bottom penetrating echo sounder and CTD/water collectors.
The MAREANO programme is multi-discipline and multi-institutional, and the mapping is carried out in cooperation with the Norwegian Mapping Authority, the Geological Survey of Norway (NGU) and the Institute of Marine Research (IMR). The MAREANO programme is lead by a multi-institutional programme group, but the steering group consists of five government departments.
See the procurement documentation in Mercell for further information.
The contracting authority has the option to enter into a contract for 21 days and nights + up to 7 days and nights.
