The aim of the procurement is to develop a better offer for heavy transport drivers who must have normal 24 hour rest, reduced weekly rest (maximum 45 hours) and take breaks (45 minutes) that comply with the regulations for driving and rest time. The driving and rest time provisions require heavy vehicle drivers to take breaks and rest sufficiently to have a normal sleep period. Rested drivers are important for traffic safety. For further information see the Norwegian Public Roads Administration's Handbook V136 ‘24 hour rest areas for heavy transport’.
