The Australian Government Department of Health invites suitably experienced organisations to submit a proposal to undertake an analysis of the public health workforce.  The successful Tenderer will undertake a comprehensive public health workforce analysis to determine who the public workforce are, their scope of practice, gaps in the sector and inform opportunities to future-proof the workforce in the immediate, and longer-term future.

The Australian Government is in the final stages of developing the National Preventive Health Strategy (the Strategy), which will outline the overarching, long-term approach to prevention in Australia over the next 10 years. The Strategy will be launched on 13 December 2021.

As part of the 2021-22 Budget, the Australian Government committed to the development of governance and system integration activities in support of the Strategy and to strengthen the Government’s focus on prevention, including a public health workforce analysis.

The importance of a skilled, rapid and adequately resourced public health response has never been more apparent throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, highlighting the need for a long-term approach to strengthen Australia’s public health capacity.
