Notice of Project information Seminar

The purpose of this notice is to inform the industry that an information seminar will be held by Defence Construction Canada (DCC), in collaboration with the Department of National Defence (DND), with regards to various major development projects. The main objectives of this information seminar are as follows:

  • Provide the industry an overview of the upcoming important projects;
  • Provide information on the project specifics related to industrial security requirements; and
  • Electronic Bidding

    This information seminar is intended for all firms interested by infrastructure, working specially in the following domain areas that may include, but are not limited to:

  • General contractors;
  • Architectural consultants;
  • Engineering consultants;
  • Specialized contractors;
  • Any industry that could be concerned by the infrastructure project.

    Description of projects

    The projects may include, but are not limited to, any new construction of the Department of National Defence (DND) infrastructure in support of Canadian Forces operations. Here is a brief description of some of the related projects for which advanced procurement notices have been published on the MERX site:

  • Notice # APN- RE1401AA – This project will be to design and construct a dedicated, central facility for DND/CAF personnel in Yellowknife, NWT. The new Multi-Purpose Building will provide office space, classrooms, assembly area, warehousing, and vehicle maintenance facilities. Design-Builders are advised that the contract will include provisions for Indigenous participation.
  • Notice # RE1401AA –The work includes, but is not necessarily limited to, the supply of labour, material, supervision and equipment necessary for clearing trees at the Multi-Purpose Building site in Yellowknife, Northwest Territories, as well as for chipping and removing all cut material and debris from the site.
  • Notice of Proposed Procurement – Site Preparation (To come).
  • Notice of Propose Procurement – Modified Design-Build of Yellowknife Multi-Purpose Building (To come).

    INDUSTRIAL SECURITY REQUIREMENTS ASSOCIATED WITH THE PROJECTS

    As part of the projects mentioned above, the consultants/contractors will be required to hold a valid DESIGNATED ORGANIZATION SCREENING (DOS), issued or approved by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD), Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

     Sub-consultants/Sub-Contractors will be required to hold a valid DESIGNATED ORGANIZATION SCREENING (DOS), issued or approved by the Canadian Industrial Security Directorate (CISD), Public Works and Government Services Canada (PWGSC).

    Seminar unfold

    The seminar program is as follows:

    Date: March 10, 2020

    Time: 13:30 pm to 16:30 pm, local time

    Location: Evans building is 4816 49 St, Yellowknife, NT X1A 3T5.

    Schedule:

  • 1:30 to 2:00 pm – Arrival of participants

    Meeting room 1: English presentations

  • 2:00 to 2:30 pm – Projects overview (in English);
  • 2:30 to 3:30 pm – Industrial security requirements (in English); and
  • 3:30 to 4:30 pm – Electronic Bidding (in English).

    Firms interested to participate to this information seminar are asked to return the names of the participants by email to the contact person identified at the end of this notice by March 9, 2020.

    Please take note of the following provisions:

  • All firms are responsible for the transportation of their participants, accommodation, meals, parking, costs of preparing their response and any other expenses related to their participation in the project.
  • Participation in this seminar is not mandatory. Non-participating firms in this briefing will not be prevented from submitting a proposal in response to any future procurements.
