Tender Details
The NSW Soil Conservation Service has been engaged by DPIE Water Group to undertake river rehabilitation works along the main River Murray channel and its associated anabranches between Hume Dam and Lake Mulwala to combat the effects of regulated flows from the Hume Dam. The reason for intervening in the rivers physical form by placing quarry rock is to manage the accelerated rates of bank erosion and anabranch capture due to river regulation and other anthropogenic impacts. Quarry rock is now integrated into many of the rehabilitation works implemented under the Hume Dam to Lake Mulwala River Works Program. It is considered an industry best practice technique to control erosion on streambanks, particularly where recreational boating is commonly observed. Quarry rock supply and delivery accounts for approximately one third of the Hume Dam to Lake Mulwala River Works Program budget annually and typically results in the purchase of approximately 14,000 t of material
